10 Great Air Shows with Camping
1. Sun ‘n Fun Aerospace Expo
When: April 9 -14, 2024. **Tickets go on sale September 2023**
Where: Lakeland Linder International Airport, Lakeland Florida
Camping:
- Camping space is a first come first served basis
- All camping is primitive (dry camping). Tent and RV camping permitted
- Camping rates of $140 weekly and $40 daily
- Water, showers, camp store, porta-potties and dump stations are available.
- Pets permitted in camping area, not allowed at convention site
Sun ‘n Fun Aerospace Expo will celebrate 50 years in 2024. With five days of aerospace fun, your admission fee includes daily airshow, show-planes, museums, lectures, workshops, evening entertainment, balloon launch and shuttle transportation. Admission ticket prices are $45 daily and $170 weekly.
2. Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show & Balloon Festival
When: June 29 – July 4, 2023
Where: Battle Creek, Michigan
Camping:
- Advance RV reservations available, any remaining will be first come first served at festival
- Dry camping for $30 per night, stay the nights you want, no min no max, generators permitted
- Drinking water service and Tank dumping service available
- Pets are permitted in RV sites not the festival
The Battle Creek Field of Flight Festival is 6 days of non stop festival fun! General admission tickets are $13. The festival includes hot air balloons, Air Show, fireworks, motorcycle performances, live music, carnival rides, craft and food vendors and so much more! It’s a great event for all.
3. Duluth Air and Aviation Expo
When: July 15 & 16, 2023
Where: Duluth, Minnesota
Camping:
- Available for entire weekend advance purchase only
- Only self contained units permitted
- Dry Camping, no services available
- Free shuttle to and from Airshow
- No info on pets
This year at the Duluth Air And Aviation Expo, The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will be the headliner. The expo will include daily air shows and static air craft displays with plenty of food and beverage vendors. Therefore no outside food or beverage is permitted.
4. EAA Airventure Oshkosh
When: July 24 – 30, 2023
Where: Oshkosh, Wisconsin
Camping:
- Camping is available at Camp Scholler or setting up your tent under the wing of your own airplane.
- A three-day minimum is required and at least one person in your party must be an EAA member (Experimental Aircraft Association). https://join.eaa.org/
- Tents and RV camping permitted, Dry Camping: $34 per day, Electric & water: $84 per day
- Reservations made online in advance
EAA Airventure Oshkosh is a weeklong experience full of aviation activities. And the event is huge so expect to do alot of walking! As it covers 1500 acres. With airshows everyday, static displays, rides, museums, exhibits, ride zones and so much more, there is fun for everyone! Tickets range from $43 daily to $140 weekly. Youth 18 and under are free.
5. Airshow of the Cascades
When: August 25 & 26, 2023
Where: Madras, Oregon
Camping:
- Online advance reservations available
- Weekend pass for tent camping $40 and RV camping $50
- Dry camping only, no services available
- No pets permitted on Airshow grounds
The Airshow of the Cascades is loaded with activities. Such as kick off party, air show performances, plane and helicopter rides, static displays, fireworks, live music, car show, kids zone and so much more. Ticket prices are $34 for 2 day adult and $10 for youth with more ticket options available.
6. Pacific Airshow
When: September 29 – October 1, 2023
Where: Huntington Beach, California
Camping:
- Camping takes place at Sunset Vista RV Park, located on the beach
- Advance reservations made online
- Can accommodate RV up to 30ft in beachfront spot, up to 45ft in non beach front camping spot
- Camping fee includes: Electric and water hookups, 4 nights of camping, 1 vehicle pass, 10 GA passes to Airshow, 2 tank dumps,
- Pets allowed at camp sites
The Pacific Airshow is a 3 day event on Huntington Beach. The show includes a full day of aerobatic demonstrations, a boat race around Catalina Island, live music, social parties and so much more. Ticket prices are expensive, however the location and show is amazing!
7. STIHL National Championship Air Races
When: September 13 – 17, 2023
Where: Reno-Stead Airport, Reno NV
Camping:
- ***PLEASE NOTE – 2023 RV PARKING IS CURRENTLY SOLD OUT WITH A LARGE WAITING LIST.***
- Dry camping with water trucks and sanitary dump trucks available daily
- Weekend Camping fees: West RV Lot small space (18’ x 34’) $325 and large space (18’ x 45′) $450.00 and Optimist Lot is $275.00
- In addition to the RV, you must purchase Season Tickets and Season Pit Pass, as you will be entering through the pit gates.
This years Air Races will undoubtably be one of the best and most memorable. Why? Because after nearly 60 years of racing at the National Championship Air Races at the Reno-Stead Airport this year will be the last. They are however looking for a new location. Hopefully the new location will also include RV camping. So, I will be on the lookout for new and updated information.
8. Wings over North Georgia
When: October 2024 ( The 2023 Airshow has been postponed to 2024)
Where: Rome’s Russell Regional Airport, Rome Georgia
Camping:
- More camping details to come
- Price is $549 for premium in field camping
- Fill out a camping reservation form online and submit payment
The Wings over North Georgia is rated a top family weekend activity. This Saturday and Sunday event includes 2 days of aerial performances, helicopter rides, kids zone, food and beverage vendors, exhibitors and retail vendors. The event unfortunately was postponed, so it will not take place again until October of 2024.
9. Abbottsford International Airshow (In Canada)
When: August 11 – 13, 2023
Where: Abbottsford Airport
Camping:
- 2023 Camping is SOLD OUT
- Camping pass includes 4 nights of camping, admission for 6 people, washroom facilities and shuttle to nearby hot showers
- NO dump station or services
The Abbottsford International Airshow is 3 days filled with aerial performances from the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and many others, static displays, night show, kids areas, craft beer trucks, food tents and more. Tickets prices range form $14.99 to 169.99.
10. Royal international Air Tattoo (In England)
When: July 19 – 21, 2024
Where: RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England
Camping:
- Camping is at Fairford Airshow Camping, located about a 20 minute walk to the air show
- Dry camping only for tents, campers and RVs
- Water stations, hot showers, food and mini grocery store on site
- Glamping experience available with Brook Bell Tents
