We have been all over the country with our Airstream and found some amazing places along our journey. However, there are only a handful of places we have returned. And Maverick Ranch RV Park in Lajitas Texas is one of them. This park, in my opinion is the best place to stay if you want visit Big Bend National Park and Terlingua Texas. It is a dusty desert campground with all the fancy amenities, so for a top notch experience out in the desert, stay at Maverick Ranch RV Park.
Where is Maverick Ranch RV Park?
Maverick Ranch RV Park is located in Lajitas, Texas on the border of Mexico and the Rio Grand River. And about 35 miles from the southwest entrance of Big Bend National Park. So, if you are headed on a road trip to west Texas, hopefully this list will help you decide why you should visit Maverick Ranch RV Park, the upscale oasis in the desert.

1. Glamping in the West Texas Desert
Maverick Ranch RV Park offers full hook up sites with electric, water and sewer. With wide streets, 100 sites and 60 pull through, this property is big rig friendly. The park also offers many amenities, such as bathrooms with private shower, laundry facility, picnic tables at site, dog park, seasonal swimming pool, a nearby general store and clubhouse for gatherings and pool parties. The desert mountains surround the park and make a nice view for sunrise and sunset.
2. View the stars in the Dark Sky Community
The stars are one of my favorite things about Maverick Ranch RV Park. After dark there is an “all lights out” rule starting at 9pm. And when the lights go out, the stars are amazing. Some nights you can see the milky way and even shooting stars. It is a wonderful experience to sit back, relax and star gaze into the night.
3. Play Golf at the Award Winning Golf Course
When the sun rises you may want to play a round of golf at Lajitas award winning golf resort. And if you are a guest at the property you will receive a discount to play. So go and enjoy 19 holes of golf with stunning views, rolling hills, elevation changes, water features, unique fairways, pristine greens and Mexico just beyond the Rio Grand River. You might even get to see a havelina on the course.
4. Experience the desert with an activity
There are many activities to enjoy. Whether you prefer hiking, mountain biking, horseback trial riding, kayak or canoeing and even zip lining. Everyone is sure to find an activity. And the resort offers excursion and rental information.
5. Relax at The Agave Spa
After your adventure filled day, relax in the swimming pool or book an appointment at the Agave Spa. The spa offers a variety of massages, body treatments and facials and is located on the boardwalk near the restaurants.

If you don’t feel like cooking at the camper, breakfast, lunch and dinner are available at Lajitas Golf Resort. So you can enjoy a meal with a beautiful view at the Candelilla restaurant. There is also a bar next door featuring live music most nights.
7. Visit the ghost town of Terlingua
For an activity outside of Lajitas, the town of Terlingua is only 12 miles away. It is an old ghost town full of history and charm. 9. Explore the nearby Big Bend Ranch State Park
If you can not make it to Big Bend National Park, then Big Bend Ranch State Park is a great second choice. It offers scenic drives, camping, hiking, mountain biking. The east entrance and Barton Warnock Visitor Center is located only 1.5 miles from the RV Park and is the largest state park in Texas.
